Recent breakthroughs in tech mean DNA can now be extracted from bilby poop to teach us about the genetic diversity of wild bilbies.<\/p>\n

It could hold the missing pieces of the puzzle<\/p>\n

For a population to adapt to challenges like disease, predators, or changing environmental conditions, it needs to be genetically diverse. Is the wild bilby<\/a> genetically diverse? Or do we need to use some of our protected population to increase diversity?<\/p>\n

Until now, we\u2019ve been flying blind.<\/p>\n

These are the critical questions that we\u2019re hoping to find the answers to, through an upcoming research project.<\/p>\n
