Australia's bilbies are on the bring of extinction. They need our help.
Over the last century, the wild bilby population has been decimated as a result of colonisation, changes in land use, population growth, and the introduction of non-native, invasive species, such as wild cats and foxes.
Without our intervention, the Bilby will soon be gone forever.
In the 1950’s, the last of the Lesser Bilby’s were lost. We simply cannot let the Greater Bilby suffer the same fate.
What can we do?
Recently, Save the Bilby Fund has expanded the bilby protection zone in Currawinya National Park from 30 square kilometres, to a vast 300 square kilometres.
While this gives the bilby substantially more room to breed and grow their population, it also increases the risk of feral cat and fox attacks on wild bilbies outside of the predator exclusion zone.
How can you help?
As a small organisation of bilby lovers and protectors, the support of the community is crucial
A donation to Save the Bilby Fund helps us strengthen our defences, giving the bilbies their best chance of survival.
If you can, a generous donation WILL make a BIG difference.
We at STBF acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and bilbies live, and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging. We especially thank the Bidjara people and the Budjiti people for their support in Charleville and Currawinya.
