Save the Bilby Fund
“The Bilby is an outback eco-engineer vital to the existence of many Australian Native Species, they MUST survive.” Kev, CEO
We are a small Australian Charity devoted to saving The Greater Bilby.
At Save the Bilby Fund, honesty, integrity, passion, commitment, and transparency drive everything we do.
We exist for one urgent reason: to save the bilby from extinction within our lifetime.
Founded in 1999 by the late Frank Manthey OAM and the late scientist Peter McRae, Save the Bilby Fund was created to stop the devastating decline of wild bilby populations across Australia.
Today, we build, protect, and manage a predator-proof sanctuary in Currawinya National Park, giving greater bilbies a safe place to breed, recover, and thrive.
Our mission is bold but achievable: help establish an insurance population of 10,000 bilbies in managed areas by 2030. Through captive breeding, conservation science, feral predator management, and rewilding programs, Save the Bilby Fund is securing a future where bilbies once again live wild, free, and flourishing across their natural habitat in Australia.
