Our must-see guided tour and show takes place in a specially designed nocturnal house, where the day-night cycle is reversed so you can witness bilbies during their most active hours, without losing any sleep! As you step into the cool, darkened space, your eyes will adjust to reveal the soft scurry and digging of these delightful marsupials. It’s a rare chance to see bilbies doing what they do best – being curious, playful, and absolutely adorable.

During the tour, you’ll hear an informative and engaging presentation from one of our dedicated keepers. They’ll share fascinating facts about bilby biology and behaviour, as well as the challenges this iconic species faces in the wild – from predators and habitat loss to climate impacts. But it’s not all doom and gloom! You’ll also learn about the incredible conservation work being done right here in Charleville by Save the Bilby Fund, and how you’re part of the story just by visiting.

Did you know? We’ve welcomed over 50 bilby joeys into the world at our breeding facility in just the last couple of years! Carefully managed pairings help us protect their genetic diversity and reintroduce bilbies into secure environments across Australia, giving this precious species a fighting chance.

And it’s not just about bilbies! Saving them helps countless other Aussie natives who share their outback home.
