Charleville Bilby Experience Visit Us

COME VISIT US!

The Charleville Bilby Experience is a must-see attraction. Join us for a guided tour of our nocturnal house, where we reverse the day–night cycle so the bilbies are active during visiting hours. Watch these adorable animals go about their nightly routines and enjoy an engaging talk from one of our knowledgeable keepers. You’ll learn about the challenges bilbies face in the wild, why this remarkable little eco-engineer is so important to Australia’s ecosystems, and why saving them from extinction matters.

Here in Charleville, the Save the Bilby Fund has been working hard to establish a successful breeding program. Over the past few years, more than 80 bilby joeys have been born at our facility. Through careful pairing and genetic management, we are helping build strong, diverse bilby populations across Australia — an essential step in safeguarding the species for the future.

Protecting bilbies and their habitat doesn’t just help one species. By conserving their environment, we also help protect many other native Australian animals that share the same landscape.

Before you leave, stop by our gift shop to pick up a bilby souvenir. Every purchase and donation supports the conservation work of the Save the Bilby Fund. You can also become a Mate of the Bilby and help support these incredible animals all year round.

Bilby Tracks is a unique program that takes participants on a journey of learning and discovery from the bilby crèche and Charleville Bilby Experience, to the predator-exclusion Bilby Fence at Currawinya National Park in western Queensland.

Each trip is limited to 20 participants and accompanied by experienced Save The Bilby Fund staff.

No trips are currently on the horizon but will be promoted on our website when you can join us.
